Our Team
Jake PoRter
Major Jake Porter is a serving officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he enrolled in 2005. An infantry officer by trade, Jake has been serving for nearly twenty years. His service has taken him on six operational deployments.
A lifelong fan of motorsport, Jake finally decided to take the plunge into racing cars at a relatively late stage in life, having grown up without the available budget to do so. He has raced in Miatas at the Calabogie Challenge series, and completed a number of endurance events at tracks such as Daytona, Watkins Glen and the ChampCar 24 hours at Viriginia International Raceway. He has also completed SCCA races at Thompson Motorspeedway in Connecticut.
Jake has also participated three times in the 12 hour Race of Remembrance in Wales, UK, once as crew chief and twice as a driver. This season he will be pursuing a season in the Super Production Challenge, aiming to show that racing can be accessible to people of different financial backgrounds, and that the diverse skills of military veterans will enable success on track.
MaT Ayotte
Sergeant (ret) Mathieu Ayotte retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2018 after serving as a Combat Engineer. During his military career, he participated in operations both within Canada and in the challenging terrain of Afghanistan. Today, Mathieu resides in Ontario, Canada, where he operates a family farm alongside his wife Paige and their two children.
For the past three years, Mathieu has been a beneficiary of Operation Motorsports, an organization that has been instrumental in supporting his transition from military life. Throughout this period, Mathieu forged meaningful connections within the motorsport community, which not only expanded his network but also presented promising career opportunities. His journey began with tire management duties for TWOth Autosport, but his growing confidence and expertise within the racing sphere led to him assuming more substantial responsibilities.
Mathieu's role evolved to include tasks such as conducting alignments and chassis setups for TCR cars and contributing to the development of new TCA technicians. In 2022, Mathieu ventured to Wales, UK, where he participated in his inaugural Race of Remembrance. Serving as a fuel technician, he played a crucial role in the team's successful performance, an experience that ignited a fresh sense of accomplishment beyond his military endeavors.
As Mathieu looks ahead to the Race of Remembrance in 2023, hosted at Anglesey Circuit for the second time, he eagerly embraces a more leadership-focused role. He has taken on the position of Car Chief for the Operation Motorsport Canadian Car entry, a responsibility that involves managing a race car and coordinating a support crew that have not previously worked together as a cohesive unit. Mathieu is enthusiastic about the challenge and the opportunity to mentor the next generation of Operation Motorsport beneficiaries.
Mathieu is keen to reconnect with the friends and family he met last year and eagerly anticipates forming new friendships with those embarking on this unique experience for the first time. His dedication to Operation Motorsports and his willingness to lead by example highlight Mathieu Ayotte's ongoing journey of growth and contribution to both the motorsport and veteran communities.
